Take photos as usual

Use the camera you already have — no new settings or equipment. Intraoral shots in landscape, extraoral in portrait. That's all.

Put the card in. That's the step.

Register the card once and from then on inserting it into the reader starts processing. SmileCrop knows the card by its volume serial, not its drive letter, and starts on its own — no dialog, no clicking. It watches folders the same way, including one on a network drive. Prefer to run it manually? Pick a folder and select a folder and choose Start.

Done — sorted, cropped, rotated

In seconds the patient folder is ready: recognised photos come out cropped and rotated to the standard orientation, and with a QR name tag they are sorted straight into named folders. Anything the software is unsure about is flagged for review.

In one batch from the founder’s clinic SmileCrop processed 456 photos: it saved 423 without intervention (92.8%) and flagged 33 for review (7.2%). Unusual shots or non-standard angles may still need a quick manual adjustment. Results at another clinic may vary with image quality, photo types, and capture technique.

SmileCrop recognizes

The 30–60 minute estimate is based on our own clinical use with approximately 100–200 photos per day: at the measured 24 s of manual handling per photo and a 7.2% flag rate that works out at roughly 39–78 minutes, so we quote the lower end. Actual savings depend on photo volume and the existing workflow.
