1. What cookies are
Cookies are small files stored on a visitor's device. Similar rules may apply to browser local storage and other technologies that store or read information on a device. Server logs are created on the server rather than as browser cookies, but their processing may still be subject to personal data protection rules.
2. What cookies we currently use
The smilecrop.app website is intentionally privacy-friendly. We do not use analytics or marketing cookies, Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or comparable profiling tools.
The website code does not embed our own analytics or advertising measurement script. Ordinary network and security information is processed to deliver the website. Your explicit language choice is stored in browser local storage as described in section 5. External payment services and optional videos are covered separately below.
3. Types of cookies (overview)
| Type | Purpose | Consent |
|---|---|---|
| Necessary | website operation, security, page loading, protection against misuse | not required |
| Analytics cookies | profile-based measurement of visitor behavior | consent (currently not used) |
| Marketing | campaign measurement, remarketing, advertising pixels | consent (currently not used) |
4. Cloudflare and security elements
The website is hosted on Cloudflare infrastructure. Cloudflare provides DNS, hosting, CDN, website protection, and security services. These services may process technical information such as an IP address, request headers, and request time and, in a specific security scenario, use elements strictly necessary to protect against bots and attacks. We place no measurement script in your browser. A Cloudflare Web Analytics beacon used to run here; we have turned it off. We estimate how many people visited only from the aggregate server-side reports Cloudflare compiles from ordinary traffic records — that is, from data that arises anyway when a page is delivered. These server-side reports are separate from the language preference and any necessary browser security mechanisms.
5. Local fonts and language settings
SmileCrop fonts and icons are served directly by this website; displaying a page does not contact Google Fonts or another external font provider. Your language choice is remembered: we store it in localStorage under the key sc-lang so the site does not switch you back on your next visit. It is a strictly necessary preference that you set yourself, it is never transmitted anywhere, and nobody is tracked by it. Clearing the site's data in your browser removes it.
6. External services — checkout (Paddle)
Technology provided by Paddle.com Market Limited is loaded on the purchase page, and on the home page only once you scroll to the pricing section. It is used to show prices in your local currency and to complete the payment. It is used to calculate prices and tax, prevent fraud, and complete the requested payment. Paddle may use its own necessary technology within checkout and provides its own privacy settings under Paddle's Privacy Notice.
7. Video guides and YouTube
The video guides embed a YouTube player. It does not load by itself. Until you press “Load video from YouTube”, nothing is sent to Google or YouTube — not even the preview image, which is hosted here.
Only after your click is the player loaded from
youtube-nocookie.com (Google Ireland Ltd.). From that moment
Google sees your IP address and your device and browser data, and may
write its own storage to your browser — including in “nocookie” mode,
which promises more than it delivers.
You can withdraw. A “Disconnect the player” button sits beside the loaded player and removes it, so nothing further is requested. What has already been sent cannot be recalled — that is true generally, not only here.
Declining costs you nothing but the video: every video page carries the whole procedure in writing. Note the distinction: not clicking avoids Google being loaded on smilecrop.app, but opening the video on YouTube itself does not avoid Google — there, your visit is seen either way.
8. Consent management
Because the website itself currently uses no cookies or similar storage requiring prior consent, it does not display a general cookie banner. If optional analytics or marketing technology is added, it will be blocked in advance and the website will offer equally easy acceptance and rejection. Cookies and local storage can always be managed in browser settings.
9. Storage period
Strictly necessary security elements may exist for the session or for the period needed to protect the website. Server-side traffic records are retained by Cloudflare under its own rules for that service; aggregate traffic reports are available in the dashboard for a matter of months.
